Yet Another Death Row Exoneree

Today Curtis McCarty, who has spent more than 21 years in prison in Oklahoma, 16 of them on death row, was exonerated due to the work of the Innocence Project! Mr McCarty is the 201st prisoner freed in America due to DNA evidence and the 124th death row exoneree in the modern era! And of course that doesn't even include inmates like Paul House, still waiting for his day in court! Read more here.
We'll have more details as they become available, but you can also check out the NCADP, Death Penalty Information Center, or the Innocence Project for more details.

Meanwhile, here in Tennessee, yours truly will be appearing on Liberadio on WGNS 880 tomorrow afternoon for a complete hour starting at 2:00pm tomorrow. It's a call in show and is scheduled to be an in depth discussion about the death penalty. So if you're around tomorrow, give a listen or even call in and let us know what you're thinking. You can even listen online!

Comments :
Make sure to post that on the blog later for those of us who can't listen tomorrow!

Will do all in my not at all tech-savvy power!

The federal judge in that case, no pro-prosecution hack, intimated that she thought the guy was involved. Let us all hope that this guy keeps his nose clean--we don't need another victim.

Your fear of more victims is very justified. McCarty took the police to the dead body of a 7 year old girl who had been raped and beaten to death with a baseball bat. The police let him off in exchange for the body and his testimony against two other men. Also, he has been convicted of raping a 14 year old girl. He bragged to many people that he murdered the girl that he went to prison for. He even told the police he was there, but someone else did it. A very bad man is on the streets now.
